REVIEWS

We have excellent reviews on the Trip Advisor website and they have given us 5 stars for our food. One person wrote…

“A pleasant atmosphere with a nice choice of beers / lagers makes The Kings Head a good place to relax and visit BUT then you need to order some food – this makes your visit even better! The Caribbean dishes are amazing, whether the Curried Goat, Jerk Chicken or my favourite the Spicy Chicken, you really cannot go wrong! The chef is obviously very talented and can use spices better than the majority of places I have visited to make the perfect dishes.”

And this is what the Food & Drink Guide had to say about us…

“Undertake the ten-minute drive from the city centre to The Kings Head and you will be well-rewarded. Although it’s a traditional inn through and through, you won’t just find classic pub fare on the menu; there’s also a whole section devoted to high-quality Caribbean cuisine. The Kings’ family team is dedicated to serving the community and regularly caters for parties and events. I started with salt fish fritters, which were subtly spiced and came with a tasty rocket, onion and pepper slaw. My companion plumped for the prawns, and couldn’t believe her luck when two huge shell-on prawns in a creamy garlic sauce were presented. I then had the piquant jerk chicken supreme main with sweet pepper and onion gravy. My companion had the tender drunken lamb and mash, to which she added some of their sweet yet fiery homemade hot sauce. We couldn’t manage dessert, so vowed to return to try the sticky toffee pudding we enviously spotted being served at the next table.”

“Went there for a valentines meal. I know “ever the romantic”. But to be fair the food was above and beyond what I was expecting. Beautiful food and the landlord was a proper top geezer. Great place.”

“I’ve been a regular at The Kings Head for about 15 years, and since Martyn and his wife Pauline took the place over in 2007 the place has transformed – both physically and socially for the better.”

“The kings head doesn’t even need reviews. Food speaks for itself, this place will leave you speechless. QUALITY.”

“The Jerk Chicken and Curry Goat is as good as anything I’ve tasted at home back in Jamaica! Whenever I’m here visiting family I insist on eating out at The Kings at as often as possible… and getting take-out at least once a week!”

Audrey Johnson, Kingston, Jamaica

“The owners of the pub are good hosts… they’re always putting something special on for their customers like reggae nights, guest DJs, karaoke, or summer barbecues out on the terrace – the place has become very popular!”

David Stone, St George
